An extensive community consultation
process under pinned the design outcomes of this project, with an over arching
‘natural’ play theme integrated into the existing infrastructure and adaption
of the surrounding landscape.
The theme of ‘Avenues’ creates a
shaded, naturalistic core of the site, linking the eastern and western ends of
the site and drawing on the surrounding history of St. Peters. A double row of
deciduous trees line the pathway, softening the hard surfaces and providing a
canvas for artistic applications looking at the journey through the site.
A series of outdoor class rooms focus
on natural learning, providing opportunity to integrate the curriculum and the
surrounding environment.
