Bonython Park Playspace

WAX design in collaboration with Ric Mcconaghy and Adelaide City Council are proud to announce that the next adventure based playspace is currently under construction in Bonython Park. Landscape Construction Services are working on ground to construct the all abilities; natural based play ground nestled on the side of the River Torrens.
The playspace is intended to draw upon the rich historical and cultural themes of the surrounding environment and to help to inform a narrative of play opportunities. It looks to reconnect and rejuvenate existing infrastructure, whilst drawing on the central themes of play and exploration to provide an engaging family experience that will encourage many return visits.

Learning From The Holdfast Bay Community

As part of the Kibby Reserve Community Garden Master Plan, WAX Design collaborated with the City of Holdfast Bay to undertake a consultation process with the local community to assist in creating a brief and scope for the project. The consultation was held during August with the goal to ascertain community preference in regards to potential opportunities to be incorporated into the concept design. With all community members welcomed, the session was aimed at collating information through an interactive process and encouraging community to thoughtfully consider their top priorities for the garden.
The consultation approach focused on engaging with the local community early in the process, with the strong intent of building ownership in the project.  WAX will present an initial concept back to the community for further feedback before finalising the masterplan.

WAX Features in South Australia Design Atlas

Wombat Waterhole, the Hazelwood Park playspace designed by WAX Design and Ric Mcconaghy, was amongst those design projects selected for showcasing in a new publication ‘Design South Australia’. The opus was officially launched by Premier Jay Weatherill and is intended to ‘celebrate the role of design in our community, and how a creative industries sector helps underpin any vibrant, competitive economy’.
A gallery of the work featured in Design South Australia is available for viewing on the Integrated Design Commission’s Facebook page:
