Highbury Masterplan and Community Consultation

As part of the Highbury Viaduct Masterplan, Stage one works are now complete! Fences have been dismantled and the reserve is open to the community. The site is now at a lower fire risk, while the new signage and overall accessibility show the transformation is in full swing.

Stage 1 of the project was officially launched by, Tom Kenyon, local MP who has been supporting the residents in prioritizing this project over recent years.

WAX Design working in conjunction with URPS and DEWNR, has also recently held a community consultation to review the initial masterplan. Overall, we received positive and constructive feedback with attendances over 60 people, including local residents, councilors and elected members. The goal was to gain a community understanding and opinions of current works and current design stages. Masterplan is now being developed in response to community feedback before finalizing the masterplan.

Welcome Isy

Isy has recently joined the WAX team having graduated with Masters of Landscape Architecture at Adelaide University and awarded the Taylor Cullity Lethean Award for the highest quality design. Isy intends to enthusiastically explore her passion in landscape architecture with a focus on high quality design that investigates the composition of landscape narrative, place and people.

While working casually within the industry over the past three years, Isy has learnt the importance of a contextual approach to landscape that defines a poetic expression of the Australian Landscape and culture.

Isy has been a practicing and exhibiting artist for the past 6 years working in mixed media and combined with her professional landscape studies Isy will bring a fusion of creative aesthetics, a fresh, forward thinking and addition to the WAX team.

East Adelaide Primary School Masterplan

An extensive community consultation process under pinned the design outcomes of this project, with an over arching ‘natural’ play theme integrated into the existing infrastructure and adaption of the surrounding landscape.

The theme of ‘Avenues’ creates a shaded, naturalistic core of the site, linking the eastern and western ends of the site and drawing on the surrounding history of St. Peters. A double row of deciduous trees line the pathway, softening the hard surfaces and providing a canvas for artistic applications looking at the journey through the site.
A series of outdoor class rooms focus on natural learning, providing opportunity to integrate the curriculum and the surrounding environment.
