On Saturday 15th March the WAX
team, along with the Victor Harbor Council members engaged with the local
community regarding the Victor Harbor Mainstreet Master Plan. As part of the event, a temporary arts installation
designed and constructed by the WAX team was used to alter the street. The art work involved wrapping bollards,
trees, planter boxes, benches and covering the pavement in bright orange construction
plastic. Big bold words stencilled
across the wrapped orange forms both welcomed and questioned locals, asking how
they would like their mainstreet designed.
Using the curiosity generated by the art
activation, Council staff and WAX consulted nearly 100 members of the community
over a three hour period. Visitors to
the Mainstreet Master Plan Exhibition provided valuable insights, comments and
critique of the project. Thank you to
all who attended and made it such a fun day, creating a strong positive vibe
throughout the community and a very successful consultation process.
